About

Welcome to BestofArkansasSports.com, the biggest and most popular independent Arkansas sports website.

In today’s saturated news landscape, there’s no shortage of news articles, YouTube videos, Podcast interviews, whatever is happening on TikTok and every other imaginable type of content frothing forth on the daily. The big media companies know how to churn very well.

But within that flood there’s too little informed perspective, commentary and in-depth feature writing from folks who know the bigger picture behind the sports stories Arkansans most care about.

That’s where we step in.

Our goal is to bring you deeper analysis with an edge when it comes to Arkansas sports — whether that involves current and former Razorbacks, other colleges, high schools or whatever else may have a Natural State tie.

Most of the pieces here include analysis and opinion. Our goal is to weigh in on the most important or interesting news of the day. We don’t write opinion pieces based on whether they could hurt recruiting or not. Doing so would disservice readers by simply being a mouthpiece for “positive” news and opinion.

So, what’s my story?

I’m a former Arkansas Democrat-Gazette feature writer and sports columnist for Sync, a weekly magazine it owned in central Arkansas. Long before that, as the sports editor of The Tiger, I wrote about the exploits of basketball star Joe Johnson, my classmate at Little Rock Central High School.

I’ve written about Arkansas sports for more than 12 years. I had the pleasure of being the only Arkansas sportswriter to attend Nolan Richardson’s Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame induction in Massachusetts and of writing Frank Broyles’ obituary for Deadspin.

My book on Arkansas sports history is below.
