Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots Preview

Patriots Dolphins

On Sunday, September 15, the Razorback-filled Patriots will clash with Dolphins, a showdown between two rivals with a longstanding NFL history. These two teams have been sharing this rivalry since 1966, when the Patriots won their first-ever showdown with the Dolphins 20-14.

In Week 1, the Patriots destroyed the Steelers 33-3 while the Dolphins lost to the Ravens 59-10, but that doesn’t mean the game will automatically play out as a blowout for the Patriots. Things can change in a heartbeat in the NFL. Injuries can change the complexions of an entire game.

First and foremost, let’s take a look at the odds of the teams. On this game, the Patriots have had the upper hand as the favorites to win since even before Week 1. Their odds are -500. Dolphins’ odds, on the other hand, are +350. Various bookies have different odds in store for them though, and that is why it would be good to search for the best NFL betting lines if you are planning to place a bet on the game.

Historically looking, the Dolphins and the Patriots have 107 meetings. All in all, in the regular and the postseason, the Dolphins have the slight lead against the Patriots, 55-52. And even though the difference is small, it is fair to mention that the Dolphins have the upper hand in all of the games in the AFL and NFL regular seasons, but the Patriots have the lead in the NFL postseason.

The Patriots have recently improved their staff, which is why their team is looking strong. It now officially includes former Hogs head coach Bret Bielema as defensive line coach. In recent years, the Patriots also hold the lead. Since 2010, they have won 13 out of the 18 games that they played against the Dolphins. The teams have split their last 4 games.

Also on the Patriots are former Razorbacks Deatrich Wise, Dan Skipper and Hjalte Froholdt.

It is important to mention that the Patriots went on to win the 2018 Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams (13-3). The Dolphins are having a rough time with their injuries as well. Eight of their players have been ruled out due to hip, wrist, foot, and shoulder injuries. Danny Isidora has a hamstring injury as well.

On the other hand, Matt LaCosse, Obi Melifonwu, and Demaryius Thomas will be unavailable in the Patriots’ squad. Injuries have hit a lot of teams in the recent past. All of them are trying to find good replacements and make the best out of the given situation. The Dolphins vs Patriots game, in particular, will definitely be an interesting game for NFL fans and Razorback fans alike to watch.
