Arkansas has added another offensive lineman to its 2025 recruiting class, landing a pledge from Lionel Prudhomme.
The three-star offensive lineman from Shreveport, La., announced his commitment live on Instagram and chose the Razorbacks from a final three that included SEC foes Mississippi State and Ole Miss. He’d previously cut Texas Tech, Houston and Tulane from his list.
Listed at 6-foot-3, 305 pounds, Prudhomme is a consensus mid-tier three-star prospect. However, he does have an 87 rating from 247Sports, which ranks him as the No. 43 interior offensive lineman in the class and No. 26 overall player in Louisiana.
Arkansas now has four offensive linemen committed for 2025, as the Captain Shreve High product joins Blake Cherry from Oklahoma, Kash Courtney from Texas and Connor Howes from Florida.
His addition has also resulted in a boost to the Razorbacks’ recruiting rankings. The 18-man class moved up seven spots to No. 34 on Rivals and two spots to No. 29 in the 247Sports Composite.
Mateos Beats Kennedy for Prudhomme
With Lionel Prudhomme picking Arkansas, Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks have leveled the score against their former offensive line coaches on the recruiting trail this cycle.
Last month, Brad Davis – who was on Pittman’s first staff in 2020 – helped LSU reel in Marion four-star recruit Carius Curne.
Arkansas was also in danger of losing Prudhomme to Cody Kennedy – a member of Pittman’s staff from 2021-23 – and Mississippi State, but that did not happen.
Both Davis and Kennedy were graduate assistants under Pittman (at North Carolina and Georgia, respectively), so it would have stung for the offensive line guru to lose both of those recruits at that position to his former proteges.
Losing Curne certainly hurt because he’s a rare blue-chip in-state recruit and was even committed to the Razorbacks at one point, but seeing Prudhomme – even as a less-heralded prospect – head to Starkville would have been tough for other reasons.
Kennedy and new Arkansas offensive line coach Eric Mateos are on similar trajectories, as they left places that weren’t particularly sad to see them go, yet have received a hero’s welcome at their new school because of success they enjoyed prior to last season.
Those new schools are close together in the pecking order of the conference, too. At SEC Media Days this month, Arkansas and Mississippi State were picked to finish 14th and 15th, respectively, in the first year of the 16-team SEC.
Of course, Mateos has joined a staff led by Pittman, who is on what is considered one of the hottest seats in college football. That’s a stark contrast to the situation around Kennedy, who is part of a first-year staff under Jeff Lebby.
Getting beat by LSU is understandable, but if the Razorbacks had also lost a recruit to a team in a similar standing, it would have been another tough PR blow. Landing Prudhomme is big for that reason, even though he isn’t quite a blue-chip recruit.
What’s Next for Arkansas Football
By adding Lionel Prudhomme to the mix Friday, Arkansas now has 18 total commitments in its 2025 recruiting class. That is just shy of Sam Pittman’s stated goal of 20, as he told reporters at SEC Media Days.
With two more targets set to announce their decisions in the next week, the Razorbacks could hit that number soon.
Up next is defensive tackle Reginald Vaughn, a three-star prospect out of Hartfield Academy in Mississippi. He’ll announce his decision at 4 p.m. CT Saturday and is choosing from a quartet of SEC schools — Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
The Razorbacks have been predicted to land Vaughn by reporters on Rivals and 247Sports, but On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine still has Ole Miss as the favorite at 45.5%, compared to 24.2% for Arkansas.
On the following Saturday (Aug. 3), Little Rock Parkview running back Cameron Settles will announce his decision. The Razorbacks are one of six finalists for him, along with Missouri, Arkansas State, Memphis, Tulsa and Yale.
Although he’s just a three-star prospect, landing his pledge would be significant because Arkansas has struggled with in-state recruiting in recent years. In fact, two of Settles’ teammates — running back Monterrio Elston (Kansas State) and safety Omarion Robinson (Oklahoma) — turned down the Razorbacks in favor of other Power Four major schools. However, Parkview quarterback Quentin Murphy is committed to Arkansas as an athlete.
