After Hagen Smith turned in an all-time great performance Friday night, the Razorbacks will turn to Brady Tygart in Arkansas vs Oklahoma State on Saturday.

It’ll be a tough act to follow for the junior right-hander, as Smith drew national attention for racking up 17 strikeouts in six scoreless innings and Arkansas beat Oregon State in a classic 5-4 game.

Tygart is pretty good in his own right. In his first start of the season, he limited James Madison to one run in five innings.

First pitch against the Cowboys is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on FloSports. Follow along below for updates from Best of Arkansas Sports…

LIVE UPDATES – Arkansas vs Oklahoma State

Pregame Tidbits

Oklahoma State starter Brian Holiday was named the MVP of last year’s JUCO World Series after notching a win and a save to help Central Florida J.C. win the national title. The right-hander racked up 23 strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings at the event, capping a sophomore season in which he had 141 in 88 innings. Last season, his fastball was 90-93 mph and he has a really good curveball.

The only change in Arkansas’ lineup was in the field, as Ryder Helfrick will catch and Hudson White will be the designated hitter.

T-1st: Arkansas 0, Oklahoma State 0

  • Diggs fouled off the first pitch of the game, but eventually struck out on three pitches. He went down swinging. 1 out.
  • In a full count, White drew a walk.
  • It looked like McLaughlin had grounded out, but his chopper got by the first baseman. The E3 puts runners on first and second.
  • Aloy swung and missed at a slider for Holiday’s second strikeout. 2 outs.
  • In another full count, Helfrick hit a high pop up to shallow left. It was caught by the shortstop to end the inning.

B-1st: Arkansas 0, Oklahoma State 0

  • Ehrhard came up swinging and put the first pitch into play. Sprague-Lott did a nice job of snagging it, but his throw pulled McLaughlin off the bag. It’s ruled an E5.
    • A passed ball moved Ehrhard to second.
  • Benge followed with a walk, putting runners on first and second.
  • Tygart bounced back to strike out Wulfert on three pitches. He chased a pitch out of the zone. 1 out.
  • And just like that, Tygart gets out of it by getting Brueggemann to ground into a tailor-made 4-6-3 double play. He threw just 12 pitches.

T-2nd: Arkansas 0, Oklahoma State 0

  • Jones went down swinging to start the inning. 1 out.
  • Holt hit a pop foul behind the plate and the catcher was able to make the catch. 2 outs.
  • In a full count, Sprague-Lott draws a two-out walk.
  • He’s stranded there, though, as Wilmsmeyer flied out to center to end the inning. Arkansas hasn’t done much against him, but it has forced Holiday to throw 39 pitches through two innings.

B-2nd: Arkansas 0, Oklahoma State 0

  • Schubart starts the inning with a little dribbler that Tygart fielded and easily tossed to first. 1 out.
  • Meola went down swinging. 2 outs.
  • Aloy did a nice job of getting to and backhanding a grounder by LaSalle, but his jump throw wasn’t in time. It’s an infield single.
  • What a play by Jones to end the inning. Daugherty hit a line drive into the gap, but he got to it and came up firing. He gunned down Daugherty trying to turn the single into a double. Tygart is at just 23 pitches.

T-3rd: Arkansas 0, Oklahoma State 0

  • Diggs grounded out to second to start the inning. 1 out.
  • White followed with a sharp grounder to third, but Wulfert snagged it. He rushed the throw, though, and it was wide to first. It got by the first baseman and allowed White to move to second on the E5.
  • McLaughlin looks at strike three. It’s the fourth strikeout of the night for Holiday. 2 outs.
  • Aloy swung at the first pitch and popped it up on the infield. The second baseman caught it to end the inning. That was a quick 12-pitch inning for Holiday, who is up to 51 pitches through three innings.

B-3rd: Arkansas 0, Oklahoma State 0

  • Tygart fell behind 3-0, but battled back to get Forsythe to pop out to first. A pitch earlier, he thought he had ball four. 1 out.
  • Tygart was ahead of Ehrhard 0-2, but gave up a single up the middle.
    • The runner was immediately erased with a great pickoff move by Tygart. 2 outs.
  • Benge hit a high chopper that hung in the air forever before finally falling down. Sprague-Lott caught it barehanded and immediately fired to first. He was called out on the field, but OSU challenged it. After review, the call stands. Tremendous play to end the inning. Tygart has thrown just 36 pitches.

T-4th: Arkansas 0, Oklahoma State 0

  • It looked like Helfrick might have a leadoff blooper, but the second baseman did a nice job of running over, avoiding a collision and making the grab. 1 out.
  • Jones gave it a ride, but his deep fly was caught in center just shy of the warning track. 2 outs.
  • Holt also gave it a ride, but this time the right fielder caught it. That’s the first time Arkansas went down 1-2-3. It was a nine-pitch inning for Holiday.

B-4th: Arkansas 0, Oklahoma State 0

  • Wulfert flied out to center on the first pitch of the inning. 1 out.
  • Brueggemann went down swinging. It’s Tygart’s third strikeout. 2 outs.
  • After falling behing 3-0, Tygart battled back to get the count full and then just missed in the full count for a two-out walk to Schubart.
  • Meola swung and missed at strike three, but the ball got by Helfrick and went to the backstop. It looked like he might reach, but Helfrick recovered and threw to first to complete the strikeout. Tygart is at 53 pitches through four innings.

T-5th: Arkansas 1, Oklahoma State 0

  • Sprague-Lott breaks up the no-hitter with a leadoff double to the left-center gap. It landed on the warning track and bounced off the wall.
  • A perfect sac bunt by Wilmsmeyer moved Sprague-Lott to third. 1 out.
  • Diggs delivers by ripping an RBI single to right.
  • The third baseman made a nice diving stop on a sharp grounder by White and threw him out at first. It moved Diggs to second. 2 outs.
  • McLaughlin struck out to end the inning. Holiday is at 74 pitches through five innings.

B-5th: Arkansas 1, Oklahoma State 0

  • In a full count, LaSalle went down swinging. 1 out.
  • In another full count, Daugherty got jammed and it resulted in an easy pop out to first. 2 outs.
  • Forsythe swung at the first pitch and flied out to right. It’s Tygart’s first perfect inning. He’s at 67 pitches through five innings.

T-6th: Arkansas 1, Oklahoma State 0

  • Aloy chases a pitch up in the zone for strike three. 1 out.
  • Helfrick hit a grounder to third and it looked like a routine play, but the throw was a bit wide. He’s called out, but Arkansas challenged that the first baseman took his toe off the bag. Replays showed that he just barely kept it on, so it’s confirmed. 2 outs.
  • Jones popped out to short to end the inning. Holiday is at 83 pitches through six innings.

B-6th: Arkansas 1, Oklahoma State 0

  • Ehrhard lined the first pitch of the inning to right and Diggs made a nice running grab at his shoelaces. 1 out.
  • Benge grounded out to short. Strong throw by Aloy. 2 outs.
  • Wulfert is hit by a pitch in a 2-1 count, giving OSU a two-out base runner.
  • After a lengthy argument from Oklahoma State baseball coach Josh Holliday, Tygart strikes out Brueggemann to end the inning. He’s at 78 pitches through six innings – the same as Hagen Smith on Friday.

T-7th: Arkansas 1, Oklahoma State 0

  • Right-hander Aaron Weber is now pitching for Oklahoma State.
  • Weber’s first pitch was singled through the left side by Holt.
  • Arkansas dialed up the hit-and-run and it was a good call because Sprague-Lott hit a grounder to short that would have been a double play, but Holt was already close to second and the only play was at first. 1 out.
    • That’s it for Weber. The new pitcher for OSU is right-hander Gabe Davis.
  • In a full count, Wilmsmeyer fouled off a pitch before taking ball four.
  • Diggs flied out to shallow left. 2 outs.
  • White flied out to left to end the inning and strand two more runners. That’s seven left on base through seven innings.

B-7th: Arkansas 1, Oklahoma State 0

  • Right-hander Koty Frank is now pitching for Arkansas.
    • Tygart’s final line: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K, 1 HBP, 78 pitches (53 strikes)
  • Schubart’s foul tip was caught by Helfrick for strike three. 1 out.
  • Meola couldn’t check his swing. It’s another strikeout. 2 outs.
  • LaSalle goes dowing swinging to end the inning. Frank needed just 15 pitches to strike out the side.

T-8th: Arkansas 1, Oklahoma State 0

  • McLaughlin led off the eighth with a single to the right-center gap. The right fielder did a nice job getting to it and limiting it to a single.
  • Aloy hit it to right, but the right fielder was positioned well and was able to run it down near the line. 1 out.
  • Davis froze Helfrick with a slider for strike three. 2 outs.
  • Jones pops out to in the infield, caught by the third baseman, to end the inning. Arkansas wastes the leadoff single.

B-8th: Arkansas 1, Oklahoma State 0

  • Daugherty goes down swinging to start the eighth. 1 out.
  • Forsythe also goes down swinging. 2 outs.
  • Frank walked Ehrhard on four pitches. That’s the first base runner to reach against Frank this season. He had retired 15 straight to start the season. That’s it for him.
    • The new pitcher for Arkansas is left-hander Stone Hewlett.
  • Hewlett needed only three pitches to strike out Benge. That ends the inning.

T-9th: Arkansas 1, Oklahoma State 0

  • Holt grounds out to short. 1 out.
  • Sprague-Lott goes down swinging. 2 outs.
  • Wilmsmeyer singles up the middle to give Arkansas a two-out base runner. OSU nearly fielded it, but the ball deflected off the second baseman’s glove. It’s correctly ruled a single.
    • Wilmsmeyer immediately swipes second.
    • A pitch gets away from the catcher and Wilmsmeyer takes third on the wild pitch.
  • Diggs eventually walked to put runners on the corners.
  • White hit a grounder to short and OSU took the easy out at second to end the inning. Another wasted opportunity for Arkansas.

B-9th: Oklahoma State 1, Arkansas 1

  • Arkansas calls on right-hander Jake Faherty to try to close it out.
  • Faherty issued a leadoff walk on five pitches and that puts the tying run on base.
  • Brueggermann chases a high 96 mph fastball. 1 out.
  • Schubart walks on five pitches and that moves the tying run into scoring position and puts the winning run on. That prompts a mound visit from Matt Hobbs.
  • In a 1-2 count, Meola hits an RBI double to right-center to tie the game and put runners on second and third.
  • Faherty plunks LaSalle to load the bases and that’s it for Faherty.
    • The new pitcher is freshman right-hander Gabe Gaeckle.
  • Gaeckle struck out the pinch hitter, Little Rock native Charlie Carter, on three pitches. 2 outs.
  • It looked like Forsythe took ball four to end the game, but the pitch was called a strike. On the next pitch, Gaeckle struck him out to send the game to extras. Wow.

T-10th: Oklahoma State 1, Arkansas 1

  • McLaughlin looks at strike three. He didn’t like the call. 1 out.
  • Aloy grounded out to short. 2 outs.
  • Helfrick can’t check his swing on a pitch in the dirt. That ends the inning.

B-10th: Oklahoma State 1, Arkansas 1

  • Ehrhard flied out to right. 1 out.
  • Benge goes down swinging, whiffing on a slider. 2 outs.

  • Holt grounds out to third. 2 outs.
  • Sprague-Lott snaps a streak of six straight batters retired by Davis with a double down the left field line.

  • Meola flies out to right to end the inning.

T-12th: Oklahoma State 1, Arkansas 1

  • Diggs grounds out to second. 1 out.
  • White came close to giving Arkansas the lead, but his deep drive to left was caught at the fence by the left fielder. It might not have cleared the fence, but it’s likely extra bases if he doesn’t catch it. 2 outs.
  • McLaughlin hit a slow chopper to first and Brueggemann booted it. The E3 extends the inning.
    • Will Edmunson pinch ran for McLaughlin and eventually swiped second.
  • Aloy goes down swinging. Arkansas is now 1 for 11 with RISP.

B-12th: Oklahoma State 1, Arkansas 1

  • LaSalle draws a five-pitch walk to start the 12th and the winning run is on base. That’s it for Gaeckle, who was excellent.
    • Now pitching for Arkansas is another freshman, left-hander Colin Fisher.
  • Carter lays down the sacrifice bunt to put the winning run in scoring position. 1 out.
  • Forsythe chases a fastball up for strike three. 2 outs.
  • Arkansas opts to intentionally walk Ehrhard to get a left-on-left matchup with runners on first and second.
  • Benge is called out on strikes and he’s not happy about the call…and he may have a case. Alas, that ends the inning.

T-13th: Oklahoma State 1, Arkansas 1

  • Right-hander Tommy Molsky, a transfer from Penn State, is now pitching for Oklahoma State.
  • Helfrick is called out on a pitch that looked outside. He didn’t like it. 1 out.

  • Brueggemann looks at strike three, too. He’s now 0 for 6 with five strikeouts and a GIDP. 2 outs.
  • Fisher gets Ortiz to look at strike three, as well. Unreal.

T-14th: Oklahoma State 1, Arkansas 1

  • Diggs singles to start the 14th inning.
  • White hit a grounder up the middle, but the shortstop got to it and threw to first for the out. It moved Diggs into scoring position, though. 1 out.
  • Jack Wagner, who entered the game in the 12th after Will Edmunson pinch ran for McLaughlin, looks at strike three. 2 outs.
  • Aloy grounds out to short to end the inning. He’s now 0 for 7 today. The Hogs are 1 for 14 with RISP.

B-14th: Oklahoma State 2, Arkansas 1

  • Meola looks at strike three. Fisher has struck out five straight Cowboys – all looking. 1 out.
  • LaSalle singles up the middle to give OSU a base runner.
  • Carter – the Little Rock native – hits a double down the left field line and Oklahoma State has runners on second and third with one out. That prompts a mound visit from Hobbs. … Check that. It’s ruled an E5. Sprague-Lott couldn’t handle the scorcher. Tough error on him.
  • Wow. In an 0-2 count, Forsythe surprises Arkansas with a perfect squeeze bunt. Unreal. That ends it.
